#6: Youth Drug and Alcohol Prevention

As part of HB 289 Planning, Council identified the need to work collaboratively with Communities That Care (CTC) and the local Alcohol and Drug Board. CTC conducted a comprehensive survey of drug and alcohol use in all Lorain County schools in 2003 and in 2006.

Results of this survey process has resulted in the development of a community-based group to assist in reducing drug and alcohol use among Lorain County youth by developing measurable action steps. Council will partner with Communitis That Care to fulfill planning goals which have been created to reduce the prevalence of alcohol, cigarettes, and marijuana lifetime use amoung youth in grades 6th - 12th by an overal mean average survey score of 10 % using evidenced based, county-wide education and prevention strategies.
